Why do you want to sing?
I once had a pupil who was very talented and I encouraged her to sing at one of my pupil showcases. She said she wouldn’t sing in public until she knew everything. I said the one thing you won’t know is what happens to you when you perform.
Practice into performance
The ethos behind my teaching methods is to give my students the tools they need to deal with professional situations in which they may find themselves, and by being in control, minimising the possibility of anxiousness destroying a performance. I aim to give individual coping mechanisms to problem solve studio and stage situations based upon both vocal and physical techniques.
Although the techniques and training methods used may at times appear to be the same for everyone, every voice is unique and every student is an individual. Training and exercises are vital for technique but what you learn from them must be put into practice.
Performance into Practice.
On stage you sing songs not scales.
